Open to all Scouts,Explorers, Network, Guides, Rangers and Leaders

All equipment provided, all you need is a change of clothes

British Canoeing Paddle Power ‘Start’                                                          Age 8 to 16

           

  Monday, Tuesday or Friday evening, May to September, 2 hours, (times to be arranged).

  6pm or 6.30 start preferable. Maximum 15 pupils, booked by leader 2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE

      Cost 50p per certificate,minimum

Course 'A'  Saturdays 10.30am-12.15.       May 7^th , 14th , 21^st   , 28^th , June 4^th, 11^th.
Course 'B'  Saturdays  10.30am-12.15       June 18^th ,25^th ,  July 2^nd , 9^th,  16^th ,23^rd ..
Course 'C' Wednesdays 6pm-7.45pm         May 4th ,11th, 18^th ,25^th . June   1^st , 8^th  .       ^.

Course’C/1’Wednesdays 6pm-7.45pm      June   15^th ,22^nd ,29^th , July  6^th  13^th ,20^th  .

Course ‘C/2’ Mondays 6pm-7.45pm   May 2^nd ,  16^th, 30^th , June 13^th ,27^th ,,July 11^th. Guides only   

Course 'D'  Saturdays 10.30am-12.15  .     Sept., 3^rd ,10^th , 17th , 24^th  Oct 1^st  , 8^th  .^,  .

     COST £10 for the course  includes British Canoeing record card and  certificate. 

  

British Canoeing Paddle Power ‘Discover’  ( minimum entry ‘Passport’)      Age  11 minimum 

Course 'E' Saturdays 9am-11   May 7^th , 14^th , 21^st , 28^th  June 4^th , 11th, 18^th ,25^th ,July 2^nd .  

Course 'F'  Saturdays 9am-11  July  9^th , 16^th,, 23^rd ..Sept 3^rd ,10^th , 17^th , 24^th  Oct 1^st ,8^th   

Course ‘F/1’Wednesdays 6pm-7.45 15^th  ,22^nd , ,29^th ,July 6^th ,13^th ,20^th, Sept 7^th ,14^th .21^st  .      

     COST  £12 for  the course  includes British Canoeing record card and certificate.  

Gosport Scout Junior Instructor (minimum entry Paddle Power ‘Discover’ )   Age 12 minimum

              

Course ‘I’ Saturdays 9.45am - 12.15      

April 2nd and 9th,  (indoors) theory how to teach.

April 30^th  practical on the lake.  

Pupils then  help instruct at minimum of 12 sessions of  Passport  courses or Start (Taster) sessions.

       COST  £5 includes course certificate.

SEAL (minimum entry Paddle Power ‘Discover’)                                                  Age  13 or 14 only

Course ‘H’ Saturdays  10am – 12.15    May 7th .  to   July  23rd and Sept 3rd to Oct 8^th .

This is 18 sessions but you attend only as many as you can.  

The  course includes 2 Star canoeing and  kayaking and an introduction to 3 star.

       Cost £15.      British Canoeing 2 star certificate if  you  complete .

British Canoeing  Three Star (Sea) (Minimum entry ‘Discover’ or 2 Star) Age 15+ with stamina                                                                                                                                               

Course 'G'  Saturdays  9am till 12noon     

May 7th  to July 23rd   and Sept 3rd  to  Oct 8^th  .

This is 18 Saturdays  but you  attend only as many as you can.  You must  complete at least four  4 to 5 hour  journeys which finish at about 3pm approx, some may be on Sundays.   

Also essential attendance at 3  indoor theory sessions  Saturdays  March  5^th , 12^th and 19th . 10am-12noon. 

Kayak rolling is also a requirement and this cannot be taught at the lake -see below. Course takes  most pupils 2 seasons, no extra charge.

 COST £15   plus  British Canoeing Certificate  which is  £12 members, £25 non members when you pass.

Kayak Rolling  

Mondays 6-45 to 8.15.St.Edmunds School Pool, Portsmouth

January 4th to March 28^th ,except Feb 15^th ,half term

          COST £2 per evening, minimum 4 sessions.              

Tasters   See ‘Start’ above. This can only be booked by section  leaders in writing but

telephone or email for availability first    

                     ONLY ONE SESSION PER UNIT  except for units of over 20 members
